Some facts and a question?

Since there is widespread joy in having this forum, I have decided to offer some facts about the competition (CL or the European Cup). Some of you might know it already. Here goes:

1. 5 players have won the trophy both as a player and manager. They are Miguel Munoz (Real Madrid), Giovanni Trappatoni (Milan in 1963, and managed Juventus' 1985 Heysel Stadium victory over Liverpool), Johann Cruyff (Player; Ajax Manager: Barcelona 1992), Carlo Ancelotti (Milan) and of course, Frank Rijkaard (Player: Milan )

2. Most goals in the Final was in 1960 at Hampden Park, where Real Madrid defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 7-4.

3. This tournament was the brainchild of a French sports writer. It first started in 1956.

4. Wolves had a very strong squad in 1956 and as English Champions were tipped for glory, but the FA refused to sanction their participation, so they were denied possibly their best ever chance of a European triumph.

We should be wary of believing that communism is a dead issue

As one scholar observed, ''In less than 100 years, Communism has claimed more than 100 million lives.''

http://www.victimsofcommunism.org/histor...

Communism is the literal fulfillment of Psalm 14: ''The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.'' The consequences are stated clearly: ''They are corrupt: They have done abominable works; there is none that doeth good.''

The repudiation of communist conduct is not enough. Communist defeats will be temporary if the errors of Marxist doctrine are not exposed. A new generation will be seduced by the doctrines, and communist killing will recommence.

Some of the statements of Marx are true. This is not surprising. Every false philosophy and system contains elements of truth

Essential elements of Marxist declines are decidedly false. This must be demonstrated, stated, and restated. The deplorable conduct of the communists is not due to their departing from the teachings of Marx, but to their obedience to them.

Should Communism conquer countries with traditions of political liberty, artistic freedom and inalienable rights, the same doctrines that guided Lenin, Stalin, Mao Tse-tung, and Pol Pot will generate programs of mass murder and universal enslavement. Doctrine that is sincerely believed will triumph over tradition, tolerance and compassion.

The Marxist demons conceived by falsehood, and nurtured by ignorance, must be exorcized by truth.

Why did slavery flourish in the Bible Belt?

Did ''real'' Christians ignore the atrocities in much the same way ''real'' Christians voted Hitler into power?

Why did slavery flourish in the Bible Belt?abtuvurys 2005

Slavery didn't flourish in the deep south because if Christianity, although many Christians used the Bible as a justification for what they did.

It flourished because the south's economy was dependent on cotton, and farmers thought they needed slaves to harvest said cotton.

At the time slavery was prominent in the US there wasn't a 'Bible Belt' so to speak. Most everyone in the US around that time were fundamentalist Christians.

Why is there not a category for vintage vehicles? or have I missed it?

My 1st car was a Triumph Dolomite 1500hl twin overhead cams etc. Being in England it had a bit of stature back then (early 80's), now though is probably known as a rust bucket!! It has gotta be the most comfortable/best car I have ever had - sadly it has now bitten the dust! what was your first car ever driven or bought?

Does US govt realize how dangerous is Soccer for US policy in Iraq?

Soccer can fuel nationalism on Iraqis, that is the last thing USA needs, in fact is the policy of Mqtada al -Sadr ,that firebrand shiite cleric, he is trying to unite Iraqis of all sects .In his meetings he uses Iraqi flags , not shiite flags, this goes in opposition of US strategy of spliting Iraq into 3 countries.

Yesterday , after the triumph of the Iraqi soccer Team at the Assian cup, there were no bombings, do you understand how bad this is?

There were no bombings, but how about the shooting to cele brate?
Give it a break man. The Asian Cup win was good for the country. Leave it at that.
This is the thing that the US needs. If the Iraqis can see they can work together, then the US can leave. Yay.
I can't tell if you are trying to be sarcastic or if you are just ignorant... or both... please review our country's objectives for the conflict in Iraq...
You have it wrong my friend, the U.S. strategy is to unite the country under democratic representation for all but not split it into three countries. Sadr is killing those non-shiites and wants one country under his rules sharing his beliefs only and if he gets it will kill anyone opposing him. As for soccer I think it is great that all Iraqi citizens have at least one thing they can celebrate together but it will neither unite the politics of the nation or do it harm. It does provide some national pride and that is a beginnning.
Yet, after Iraq made it into the finals, there were two suicide bombs. There may not have been bombings yesterday, but 3 people died because Iraqis were shooting guns in the air in celebration. So don't think for one minute that they'll love each other over soccer, but wouldn't it be nice if something so simple could unite them?
WOW! Where to begin? First of all, we are still there in Iraq because they are NOT unified and are all vying for power, causing chaos! If they unified, all the more better for the US and we can come home, mission accomplished!
